Loving Legacy

sometimes tucked
arms entwined hers
looped through his
crook a lady and
gentleman sauntered

other moments
gentle hands held
her right his left a
living bridge built
spanning 64 years

once in a while her
shoulder brushed his
while they traipsed
side by side a secure
distance between them

always for richer or
poorer in good times or
bad sickness or health
loved and cherished not
even in death did they part

  1. Beautiful tribute to an everlasting love!
“not even in death did they part”
death may take them away but their love lives on.

I myself had been working on a piece about people who were in love for an eternity. I found it really hard to capture true feelings of those in deep love for a lifetime. I couldn’t even begin to imagine what it would feel like to grow old with one’s true love. Your poem inspires me to go back and work on that piece.
    Thank you so much.

    1. Thank-you so much. I had two, beautiful models (not that life was perfect but they were perfectly in love). Can’t wait to read your work when it’s finished! Let me know please! xo

  2. That’s a beautiful poem about enduring love! I guess not many couples today will last so long.
Thanks for visiting my poem earlier.

    1. Thanks Jessica!!!! It seems to be that way but there’s always hope! And those rare exceptions who should publish their narratives for all of us to read 🙂 You’re welcome btw!

  3. Love it and of course the song La vie en Rose. Have you heard Edith Piaf’s version. if I am not mistaken she was the original…. Absolutely beautiful
