The Voice

“There is a voice inside of you
That whispers all day long,
“I feel this is right for me,
I know that this is wrong.”
No teacher, preacher, parent, friend
Or wise man can decide
What’s right for you–just listen to
The voice that speaks inside.”

    1. Corinne,
That is some kind of mysterious force at work in our lives :-P. It is pretty wild! I’ve been so swamped I haven’t had time to read much and I was surprised to learn we both used it within a day of each other! I love Shel and I love those lines!

  1. Well girl, we are on the same wavelength, you, me, and Corinne – All posting on the Voice. I love this poem by Shel!

What is your most reliable compass in personal guidance?

Trusting your instincts or “inner knowing,” or the “still small voice within?”

Corinne has the same poem today.

    Ooh, kinda mysterious.

    1. Debra,

How interesting is life when three people are riding the same wavelength? Life is so interesting! I do love this poem as well.
Hmmmm. . .there have been times in my life when my intuition/gut feeling was so dead on. I can’t ignore it when it subsumes me! Yet, I have heard that small still voice (which isn’t that small)! Both I’d say! Maybe the intuition is the feeling/knowing part of that small voice!
      VERY mysterious. . . wow!

    1. The Awakening is sitting on my bookshelf. I have read it at least 5 times now. The seductiveness of the sea. . . dark novel and brilliant! Good for your daughter (and her smart dad). Shel rocks it!

  2. It is a still gentle voice that has to be discerned by all means. Not all voices should be heard. It should spring forth from love and bring you peace.

It is very catchy in its simplicity… loved it…
