Sometimes I begin writing without the faintest idea of what will spill onto the LCD screen. This post is one of those. When writing in one of these moods, I risk random thoughts that might converge as complete, disjointed bits of information (hey, I’m a risk taker when it comes to words so here goes).
Since it’s Lent, tomorrow’s Easter and my best friend tagged me in a MEME, I thought I’d share. Jessica wanted me to write 5 things I love about Jesus. I love her dearly, but I’m tweaking her “tag.”
I decided to share 5 things I appreciate about my faith and, consequently, love (since God is love):
- Love = action.
- It is 1 Corinthians 13 (4-8): “Love is always patient and kind; love is never jealous; love is not boastful or conceited, it is never rude and never seeks its own advantage, it does not take offence or store up grievances. Love does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but finds its joy in the truth. It is always ready to make allowances, to trust, to hope and to endure whatever comes. Love never comes to an end.” Tough standards sometimes, right?
- Love is the opposite of evil, hatred, lies, manipulation, b.s. and deceit. It is THE answer to every problem we humans create or are subjected to.
- Love does NOT mean we will never get angry. In fact, we should get angry sometimes–at injustice! Temple scene, anyone?
- Love is not always easy. No one said it would be. It is, however, the greatest act of stepping outside of ourselves. Now that is worthwhile.
To those of you who celebrate the mystery of that dark empty tomb, happy Easter! Xo
