Ornament

ornament

An ornament upon
my tree you are-
not.

More like ice crystals
stinging and bitter cold,

a biting wind tearing
through a flimsy sweater,

jagged pieces of snow
globes broken, stabbing.

An ornament upon
my tree you are-
not.

  1. A merry Christmas it would be,
If I could hang upon your tree,
Smooth and warm I’d block the wind,
As i hung from pine tree limb,
But an ornament just for show,
That’s not for me; now you know.

Since your poem was not meant for me I felt free to be creative. Thanks for the inspiration.
